Living in the Desert

Okay, I am getting tired of just being with myself. I’m a recognized introvert, I claim it, but I do miss people. I’m a hugger, and I miss the contact of other humans. Ugh…I miss my grandchildren!

We do not have an understanding of this virus, but I can tell you as believers in God’s divine power, we should have an understanding of what He can do and what He is doing. People are in a panic about the economy and our children and school but as we continue to say, God’s got this!

Let’s look at the positive things that are happening. Many of us are working from home and many have been furloughed. But I see people giving furloughed people jobs. I recently had our home power washed and the young Citadel grad, who has been furloughed from his job, did my job because the owner of the company reached out and helped provide work for him. Our children, yes are being schooled from home, but as parents, isn’t that our job anyway in so many ways. Our daughter, spent time, several days ago teaching her girls, age 2 and 4 how to correctly set a table.

Children’s Ministers of multiple churches are sending Bible study material to parents so that they can teach them God’s word. Our pastors and Bible study teachers are zooming with church families. Learning continues, in different avenues, but aren’t we so blessed that we can all be creative in our teaching and learning.

I love Proverbs 3:5-6. It says,

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; Do not depend on your own understanding.

God is using this time to show us all how patient we need to be, how fruitful we can be, and how grace can abound in our lives.

We may feel that we are in the desert, but look around you and see the true beauty of a desert. The desert appears to be threatening with obstacles and challenges but it is also full of life. Even in the desert a person is not alone. God is walking with us, right by our side. Reach out and take him by the hand, feel his presence and know that he is doing great things with us all.
