Defying Aging

What?  Who was that…oh what was her name.  Where did I put my glasses…oh yea, I don’t wear glasses anymore! Oh bother I forgot to turn off the oven!  Ever have those things happen to you?  Well I’ve learned that it definitely comes more often with age.  I can’t tell you how many times I’ve walked from one end of the house to the other, thinking if I could just retrace my steps maybe I could remember what I went to the kitchen to do.  Sometimes it works like a charm but I have been known to walk the path three or four times before remembering.  I had my annual physical this week and even talked to the doctor about the possibility of dementia being a possibility.  Whew!  Was I ever relieved when he assured me that I was okay.

GENESIS, EXODUS, DEUTERONOMY…

When I was younger I memorized chapters and chapters of scripture. Not anymore.  I can barely remember where they are anymore. However, I am faithful in reading and soaking up the Word because it always has such a profound affect on me.

I was having my quiet time this morning and my devotion was about being steadfast with your faith.  The key verse was one of my favorites.

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you.”  Matthew 6:33

I’ve always trusted that God had everything under control in my life.  I didn’t say that I always trusted peacefully or quietly but I always knew that things would go according to His plan.  So this morning as I was reading I was led to Philippians 4.  Do you know this?

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

So I’m not going to fret the memorization issue.  My personal prayer today is that that God would implant the Word in my heart and mind and that it would transcend beyond me through my actions. AGE, hereby be defied.  I have a plan for overcoming your affects. Now what day is it…
