I love Sundays. Yesterday Mike and I had the privilege of dedicating babies from two wonderful families. I love praying over these children and their families. I love knowing the joy and the excitement of the parents at the anticipation of rearing their children in the church and under the guidance of our Lord.
I also cover the children’s desk at the 9 o’clock hour. I greet people, offer assistance with the babies, check class rooms for needed supplies and count attendance. Yesterday as I was counting I walked into one classroom and one particular girl came running across the room yelling,”Miss Pam, Miss Pam!” She reached for me, gave me a big hug and proceeded to gush out her excitement.
“Miss Pam, my birthday is October 27th and I want this cute puppy that turns into a truck, if you would like to get it for me. You push a button on the puppy and it turns into this big truck.”
I said, “Oh you mean one of those toys called a transformer.”
“Yes, I guess so,” she said with a perplexed grin.
Then came the moment that fills up my heart more than any other. She turned to her teacher and said, “Miss Pam is my other parent!”
Okay, I admit I turned into mush. If I can find that toy that is supposedly pink and you push the button on the puppy and it turns into a truck…guess what she will get for her birthday on October 27th! Yep! I love these kids!
